NAB MAT 19:16

The dangers of riches. Another time a man came up to him and said, "Teacher, what good must I do to possess everlasting life?" He answered, "Why do you question me about what is good? There is One who is good. If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments." "Which ones?" he asked. Jesus replied "You shall not kill"; 'You shall not commit adultery'; 'You shall not steal'; 'You shall not bear false witness'; 'Honor your father and mother'; and 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"

NAB LUK 10:25

On one occasion a lawyer stood up to pose him this problem: "Teacher, what must I do to inherit everlasting life?" Jesus answered him: "What is written in the law? How do you read it?" He replied:
"You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your strength,
and with all your mind;
and your neighbor as yourself."

Jesus said, "You have answered correctly. Do this and you shall live."

NAB2 1JO 5:3

For the love of God is this, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome,

NAB2 JOH 14:15

If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

NAB LUK 18:18

One of the ruling class asked him then, "Good teacher, what must I do to share in everlasting life? "Jesus said to him, "Why call me 'good'? None is good but God alone. You know the commandments:
'You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not kill.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear dishonest witness.
Honor your father and your mother.'"

NAB MAR 10:17

As he was setting out on a journey a man came running up, knelt down before him and asked, "Good Teacher, what must I do to share in everlasting life?" Jesus answered, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments:
'You shall not kill;
You shall not commit adultery;
You shall not steal;
You shall not bear false witness;
You shall not defraud;
Honor your father and your mother.'"

Of the four times scripture presents Jesus with the question, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?", three times Jesus answers obey the commandments and twice he tells us to love. This chapter takes a look at these answers and the relationship of obedience and love to eternal life.

Jesus tells us that Saint Abraham, Saint Isaac and Saint Jacob are alive in heaven. To understand the relationship of obedience, love and salvation through Jesus, we must first study how Saint Abraham, who had sinned, received eternal life through Jesus.

NAB MAT 17:1 Jesus Transfigured.

Six days later Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother John and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. He was transfigured before their eyes. His face became as dazzling as the sun, his clothes as radiant as light. Suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared to them conversing with him.

NAB MAR 12:18

Then some Sadducees who hold there is no resurrection came to him with a question ...\\...12:24 Jesus said: "You are badly misled, because you fail to understand the Scriptures or the power of God. When people rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage but live like angels in heaven. As to the raising of the dead, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the burning bush, how God told him, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob'? He is the God of the living not of the dead, You are very much mistaken."

NAB LUK 13:28

And there will be wailing and grinding of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves cast out.
Saint Moses, Saint Abraham, Saint Isaac and Saint Jacob are alive in heaven. How did they get there? Moses and Abraham were both sons of Adam and carry Adam's sin as we do. Moses gave us the will of God but then he sinned against one of God's wills (NUM 20:12). Abraham could not be called righteous on his own account but only through his faith (GEN 15:6).

It is by the blood of Jesus that we New Testament sinners are brought to salvation. What brought sinning Abraham and sinning Moses to salvation in heaven? Was it their circumcision? Their faith? Their righteous deeds? Their obedience to the commandments? The sacrifice of a goat or a lamb? If it was by one of these, then why did God have to sacrifice His Son for us, the New Testament sinners? Why can we not be circumcised, have faith, do righteous deeds, obey the commandments, or sacrifice a goat to earn heaven? If Abraham and Moses could have earned eternal life through the law or a function other than Jesus death, why cannot we?

NAB GAL 2:21

I will not treat God's gracious gift as pointless. If justice is available through the law, then Christ died to no purpose!
The fact is, that nothing Abraham or Moses could do would ever have gained eternal life for themselves. It is the blood of Jesus that brings Abraham and Moses to salvation. When Christ died he went to the right hand of the Father. It is through the Right Hand of the Father that we Christians are brought to salvation.

NAB MAT 26:64

Jesus answered: "It is you who say it. But I tell you this: Soon you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven."

NAB PSA 80:18

May your help be with the man of your right hand, with the son of man whom you yourself made strong.
It is through the Right Hand of the Father that Abraham and his descendants are also brought to salvation. The Psalms are written by King David. David was guilty of adultery, coveting another's wife, and murder. David died a thousand years before the time of Christ. Yet repentant David proclaims salvation through the Right Hand of God the Father. It is by the blood of Jesus, the right hand of the Father, through which repentant sinner David is brought to eternal salvation.

NAB PSA 118:15

The joyful shout of victory in the tents of the just: "The right hand of the LORD has struck with power: The right hand of the LORD is exalted; the right hand of the LORD has struck with power." I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. Though the LORD has indeed chastised me, yet he has not delivered me to death.

Open to me the gates of justice; I will enter them and give thanks to the LORD. This gate is the LORD's; the just shall enter it. I will give thanks to you, for you have answered me and have been my savior. The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. By the LORD has this been done; it is wonderful in our eyes. This is the day the LORD has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it. O LORD, grant salvation! O LORD, grant prosperity! (MAT 21:42)

NAB PSA 98:1

Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done wondrous deeds; His right hand has won victory for him, his holy arm. The LORD has made his salvation known: in the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice. He has remembered his kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation by our God.

NAB WIS 5:15

But the just live forever, and in the LORD is their recompense, and the thought of them is with the Most High. Therefore shall they receive the splendid crown, the beauteous diadem, from the hand of the LORD - For he shall shelter them with his right hand, and protect them with his arm.

NAB PSA 77:16

With your strong arm you redeemed your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph.

NAB2 PSA 45:4

Gird your sword upon your hip, mighty warrior! In splendor and majesty ride on triumphant! In the cause of truth and justice may your right hand show you wondrous deeds.

NAB2 PSA 138:7

Though I walk in the midst of dangers, you guard my life when my enemies rage. You stretch out your hand; your right hand saves me. The LORD is with me to the end. LORD, your love endures forever. Never forsake the work of your hands!

NAB ISA 41:8

But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, offspring of Abraham my friend - You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth and summoned from its far-off places, You whom I have called my servant, whom I have chosen and will not cast off - Fear not, I am with you; be not dismayed; I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, and uphold you with my right hand of justice.

NAB2 PSA 108:6

Appear on high over the heavens, God; may your glory appear above all the earth. Help with your right hand and answer us that your loved ones may escape.

NAB PSA 21:9

(Jesus destroys Satan and all evil.)
May your hand reach all your enemies, may your right hand reach your foes! Make them burn as though in a fiery furnace, when you appear. May the LORD consume them in his anger; let fire devour them.

NAB PSA 48:11

As your name, O God, so also your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Of justice your right hand is full; let Mount Zion be glad, Let the cities of Judah rejoice, because of your judgments. (PSA 78:54)
SIR 36:5 PSA 49 PSA 51 PSA 56:14

David, a covetous adulterer and murderer, thanks God for his salvation in Jesus Christ. "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. Though the LORD has indeed chastised me, yet he has not delivered me to death." If Moses' law does not condemn David to hell, for what purpose did God give man the law? It is through the law that man knows how to love God. It is those who love God who inherit Christ's blood.

The way people go to heaven is through Jesus Christ, the reason people go to heaven is because they love God and love for God is accomplished through free from the will of God obedience to the will of God. What must God do that I may inherit eternal life? God must protect me with His Right Hand Jesus Christ. What must I do to inherit eternal life? Obey and love God.

Jesus has created a route in which all men since Adam can be brought to heaven. However, Jesus never changed the reason for God's establishment of His covenant of free will. The only way to create love for God is through the power of free will. Choosing sin and disobedience to God's law of love is hatred for God. Because of Jesus death this hatred for God does not always cause eternal death. However, choosing life, obedience and faithfulness to God with all your heart is always the way men love God. It is love that God looks for when He decides who will enter into heaven through Jesus and who will not enter into heaven.

God through Moses did not deliver the Ten Commandments to the Israelites so they could earn their way to heaven. Nor did He deliver the Ten Commandments so all men could perish in hell by sin. These commandments were given to the Israelites to teach them how to love God. It was through Jesus Christ that God offered salvation to David, Abraham, Moses and the Israelites. Love for God was the reason God brought an Israelite such as Moses to heaven through Jesus' blood. Hatred for God is why an Israelite such as Korah (JUD 1:11-13) (NUM 16) burns in hell without Jesus salvation.

Jesus' work on earth was threefold. First, Jesus chooses love for the Father. Second, Jesus creates a path for his brothers to return to the Father. Third, Jesus teaches men how to love God and how to return to God. Jesus taught men how to love God as Moses had done before him. Jesus cultivated the fruit of love for God through his teaching to men; then he took this fruit back to the Father through his death and resurrection. Through Christ's life men are instructed how to love God. Through Christ's death men are then able to bring their love before God.

Choosing obedience with all your strength is to choose eternal life and is love for God. God allows creation to continue and some men to go to hell in order that some men will love Him through His covenant of free will. The reason saints are begotten into heaven through Christ's blood, is because they love God through obedience, faithfulness and gifts of love with all their strength. The eventual saints sin and do not choose love, life and obedience perfectly, but they choose life, love and obedience with all their heart, with all their soul, with all their mind and with all their strength.

The most important message that Moses ever revealed was, 'Love the Lord, your God, with all your heart.' Whenever scripture uses the term 'Love God with all your heart' it is referring to the commandments. It is through the commandments that God reveals to us how to love Him with all your heart. When Jesus uses God and Moses' term 'Love God with all your heart' he also is referring to obeying the commandments.

Throughout scripture the term 'with all your heart' reappears with the commandments to stress God and Moses' concept of loving God through the commandments. The phrase 'with all your heart' appears roughly fifty-four times in Old Testament. Forty-five out of its fifty-four appearances are directly followed or preceded by references to God's commandments of love.

The other times 'with all your heart' appears in scriptures it is used as an adjective to indicate doing something to the elevated level of man's need to obey the commandments of love. The following verses relate to a level of enthusiasm equivalent to the omni-important love for God through the commandments.

JOS 23:14 NEH 4:6 PSA 9:1 PSA 86:12 PSA 108:1 PSA 111:1
PSA 138:1 JER 32:41 ZEP 3:14

When Jesus tells us to 'love God with all our heart' in order to receive eternal life, he is quoting from Moses and the forty-five, if not fifty-four, references which teach us to love God by obeying God's commandments. Love and obedience are one in the same according to the teachings of Jesus and Moses. Four times scripture presents to Jesus the question, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" Three times Christ answers 'obey the commandments'. In the other instance Jesus tells us 'Love God with all your heart' is correct." "If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments."

NAB DEU 6:1

"These then are the commandments, the statutes and decrees which the LORD, your God, has ordered that you be taught to observe in the land into which you are crossing for conquest, so that you and your son and your grandson may fear the LORD, your God, and keep, throughout the days of your lives, all his statutes and commandments which I enjoin on you, and thus have long life. Hear then, Israel, and be careful to observe them, that you may grow and prosper the more in keeping with the promise of the LORD, the God of your fathers, to give you a land flowing with milk and honey." The great commandment. Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone! Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. Take to heart these words which I enjoin on you today. Drill them into your children. Speak of them at home and abroad, whether you are busy or at rest. Bind them at your wrist as a sign and let them be as a pendant on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.

NAB MAR 12 The Great Commandment.

(Jesus quotes from Moses.)
"Which is the first of all the commandments?" Jesus replied, "This is the first:
'Hear O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone!
Therefore you shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.'

"This is the second,
'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
There is no other commandment greater than these." The scribe said to him: "Excellent, Teacher! You are right in saying, 'He is the One, there is no other than he.' Yes, 'to love him with all our heart, with all our thoughts and with all our strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves' is worth more than any burnt offering or sacrifice." Jesus approved the insight of this answer and told him, "You are not far from the reign of God."

NAB LEV 19:18

(God speaks through Moses.)
"You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD. "

Jesus replied "You shall not kill"; 'You shall not commit adultery'; 'You shall not steal'; 'You shall not bear false witness'; 'Honor your father and mother'; and 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" The young man said to him, "I have kept all these; what do I need to do further?" Jesus told him, "If you seek perfection, go, sell your possessions, and give to the poor. You will then have treasure in heaven. Afterward, come back and follow me." Hearing these words, the young man went away sad, for his possessions were many.

NAB ROM 13 Love Fulfills the Law.

(St. Paul is speaking.)
Owe no debt to anyone except the debt that binds us to love one another. He who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery; you shall not murder; you shall not steal; you shall not covet," and any other commandment there may be are all summed up in this, saying (namely) "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Love never wrongs the neighbor, hence love is the fulfillment of the law.

NAB DEU 10:12 The Lord's Majesty.

"And now, Israel, what does the LORD, your God, ask of you but to fear the LORD, your God, and follow his ways exactly, to love and serve the LORD, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD which I enjoin on you today for your own good?"

NAB DEU 26:16 The Covenant.

"This day the LORD, your God, commands you to observe these statutes and decrees. Be careful, then, to observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. Today you are making this agreement with the LORD: he is to be your God and you are to walk in his ways and observe his statutes, commandments, and decrees, and to hearken to his voice. And today the LORD is making this agreement with you: you are to be a people peculiarly his own as he promised you: and provided you keep his commandments, he will then raise you high in praise and renown and glory above all other nations he has made, and you will be a people sacred to the LORD, your God, as he promised."

NAB MAT 22:36 The Great Commandment.

"Teacher, which commandment of the law is the greatest?" Jesus said to him:
"'You shall love the Lord your God
with our whole heart,
with your whole soul,
and with all your mind.'
This is the greatest and first commandment. The second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments the whole law is based, and the prophets as well."

NAB MAR 10:17

As he was setting out on a journey a man came running up, knelt down before him and asked, "Good Teacher, what must I do to share in everlasting life?" Jesus answered, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments:
'You shall not kill;
You shall not commit adultery;
You shall not steal;
You shall not bear false witness;
You shall not defraud;
Honor your father and your mother.'"

NAB JOH 14:21

"He who obeys the commandments he has from me is the man who loves me; . . . . "

NAB MAT 7:12 The Golden Rule.

"Treat others the way you would have them treat you: this sums up the law and the prophets."

NAB TOB 4:15

Do to no one what you yourself dislike.

NAB GAL 5:14

The whole law has found its fulfillment in this one saying: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." If you go on biting and tearing one another to pieces, take care! You will end up in mutual destruction!

NAB JOS 22:1 The Eastern Tribes Dismissed.

At that time Joshua summoned the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh and said to them: "You have done all that Moses, the servant of the LORD, commanded you, and have obeyed every command I gave you. For many years now you have not once abandoned your kinsmen, but have faithfully carried out the commands of the LORD, your God. Since, therefore, the LORD, your God, has settled your kinsman as he promised them, you may now return to your tents beyond the Jordan; to your own land, which Moses, the servant of the LORD, gave you. But be very careful to observe the precept and law which Moses, the servant of the LORD, enjoined upon you: love the LORD, your God; follow him faithfully; keep his commandments; remain loyal to him; and serve him with your whole heart and soul." Joshua then blessed them and sent them away to their own tents.

NAB LUK 10:25

On one occasion a lawyer stood up to pose him this problem: "Teacher, what must I do to inherit everlasting life?" Jesus answered him: "What is written in the law? How do you read it?" He replied:
"You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your strength,
and with all your mind;
and your neighbor as yourself."

Jesus said, "You have answered correctly. Do this and you shall live."

NAB SIR 45:5

Where, face to face, he gave him the commandments, the law of life and understanding,

NAB PRO 4:4

He taught me, and said to me:
"Let your heart hold fast my words:
keep my commands, that you may live!"

NAB JOH 8:51

"I solemnly assure you, if a man is true to my word he shall never see death."

NAB DEU 11:13

"If, then, you truly heed my commandments which I enjoin on you today, loving and serving the LORD, you God, with all your heart and all your soul, I will give the seasonal rain to your land, the early rain and the late rain, that you may have your grain, wine and oil to gather in; And I will bring forth grass in your fields for your animals. Thus you may eat your fill. But be careful lest your heart be so lured away that you serve other gods and worship them. For then the wrath of the LORD will flare up against you and he will close up the heavens, so that no rain will fall, and the soil will not yield its crops, and you will soon perish from the good land he is giving you."

NAB JOH 14:23

Jesus answered:
"Anyone who loves me will be true to my word, and my Father will love him; we will come to him and make our dwelling place with him. He who does not love me does not keep my words. Yet the word you hear is not mine; it comes from the Father who sent me."

NAB DEU 13:1 Penalties for Idolatry.

"Every command that I enjoin on you, you shall be careful to observe, neither adding to it nor subtracting from it.
"If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer who promises you a sign or wonder, urging you to follow other gods, whom you have not known, and to serve them: even though the sign or wonder he has foretold you comes to pass, pay no attention to the words of that prophet or that dreamer; for the LORD, your God, is testing you to learn whether you really love him with all your heart and with all your soul. The LORD, your God, shall you follow, and him shall you fear; his commandment shall you observe, and his voice shall you heed, serving him and holding fast to him alone."

NAB 1TH 4:9

As regards brotherly love, there is no need for me to write you. God himself has taught you to love one another, . . . .

NAB JAM 1:15

Once passion has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin reaches maturity it begets death. (TOB 14:11)

NAB LUK 11:28

"Rather," he replied, "blest are they who hear the word of God and keep it."

NAB ROM 2:4

Do you not know that God's kindness is an invitation to you to repent? In spite of this, your hard and impenitent heart is storing up retribution for that day of wrath when the just judgment of God will be revealed, when he will repay every man for what he has done: eternal life to those who strive for glory, honor, and immortality by patiently doing right; wrath and fury to those who selfishly disobey the truth and obey wickedness. Yes, affliction and anguish will come upon every man who has done evil, the Jew first, then the Greek. But there will be glory, honor and peace for everyone who has done good, likewise the Jew first, then the Greek. With God there is no favoritism.

NAB JOH 14:31

" . . . but the world must know that I love the Father and do as the Father has commanded me."

NAB PSA 119:2

Happy are they who observe his decrees,
who seek him with all their heart,
And do no wrong, but walk in his ways.
You have commanded that your precepts be diligently kept.

NAB DEU 4:29

Yet there too you shall seek the Lord, your God; and you shall indeed find him when you search after him with your whole heart and your whole soul. In your distress, when all these things shall have come upon you, you shall finally return to the Lord, your God, and heed his voice. Since the Lord, your God, is a merciful God, he will not abandon and destroy you, nor forget the covenant which under oath he made with your fathers.

NAB SIR 32:23

Whatever you do, be on your guard, for in this way you will keep the commandments. He who keeps the law preserves himself; . . . .

NAB JOH 15:10

"You will live in my love if you keep my commandments, even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and live in his love."

NAB HEB 5:8

Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered; and when perfected, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him, . . .

NAB LUK 8:21

"My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act upon it."

NAB JOH 15:12

"This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you."

NAB 1JO 5:2

We can be sure that we love God's children when we love God and do what he has commanded.

NAB JOH 15:14

"You are my friends if you do what I command you."

NAB 2JO 1:5

. . . let us love one another. This love involves our walking according to the commandments, and as you have heard from the beginning, the commandment is the way in which you should walk.
BAR 4:1 1CO 6:9 AMO 5:14

We must have love for God in our hearts to go to heaven. God tells us what love is and love is the commandments. If you wish to enter into life through Christ's blood, keep God's commandments of love. Though many false teachers might mock you for your belief, it is the truth, so stand by it. When Jesus is asked how to inherit eternal life, Jesus instructs them to love God with all their heart through the commandments for they are love. Obeying the commands is faithfulness to Jesus and the Father. It is through this loving-of-all-your-strength obedience that Christ will judge mankind. It is through this loving-with-all-your-heart obedience that men choose salvation through Jesus Christ over damnation.

Obeying God's commandments is how you love the Father and Jesus with all your heart with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind. A man's strength in battle or at work is in his arm, wrist and hand. To bind God's law on your wrist is to write it on your strength. To bind God's law on your forehead is to place it in your mind. When Jesus returns, He will be looking for those who have His commandments etched into their minds like a pendant on their foreheads. Jesus will be looking for those who obey God’s commandments with all their strength like a banner on the strength of their arm. Do not let Satan put his mark of disobedience on the forehead of your mind, on your heart, in your soul or on your strength.

NAB REV 14:9

A third angel followed the others and said in a loud voice: "If anyone worships the beast or its image, or accepts its mark on his forehead or hand, he too will drink the wine of God's wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger. He will be tormented in burning sulphur before the Lamb, and the smoke of their torment shall rise forever and ever. There shall be no relief day or night for those who worship the beast or its image or accept the mark of its name." This is what sustains the holy ones, who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus. I heard a voice from heaven say to me: "write this down: Happy now are the dead who die in the Lord!" The Spirit added, "Yes, they shall find rest from their labors, for their good works accompany them."

NAB DEU 11:18

"Therefore, take these words of mine into your heart and soul. Bind them at your wrist as a sign, and let them be a pendant on your forehead. Teach them to your children, speaking of them at home and abroad, whether you are busy or at rest. And write them on the doorposts or your houses and on your gates, so that, as long as the heavens are above the earth, you and your children may live on in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers he would give them."

"For if you are careful to observe all these commandments I enjoin on you, loving the LORD, your God, and following his ways exactly, and holding fast to him,..."

Will you write Jesus' and the Father's law on your heart, strength, mind and soul, or, will you allow Satan's mark to be put on your heart, strength, mind and soul.
DEU 6:8 DEU 11:18 EXO 13:9 EXO 13:16 REV 13:16
REV 14:1 REV 14:9 REV 20:4 REV 22:4

Satan tries to induce free-willed Jesus into disobeying the Father by commanding stones to turn to bread. If Christ had made the stones turn to bread and eaten, he would have given his flesh nourishing life. However, had Christ disobeyed the Father and turned the stones into bread he would have lost his eternal life. At the time of Satan's temptation of the Son of God, Jesus quotes about the commandments from Moses DEU 8:1. Christ says, "'Not on bread alone is man to live but on every utterance that comes from the mouth of God.'" Christ is referring to obedience to the commands of God through which he lives eternally. Jesus tells us it is through the words, statutes, and precepts from the mouth of God that we will be guided to living eternally. Men of Moses' time did not live by nourishment of the flesh, but by obedience to God's word. Christians do not live by nourishment of the flesh, but by obedience to God's word. Jesus of the free-willed flesh does not live by nourishment of the flesh, but by obedience to God's word. Not by bread does man live but by obeying God.

NAB DEU 8:1

"Be careful to observe all the commandments I enjoin on you today, that you may live and increase, and may enter in and possess the land which the LORD promised on oath to your fathers. Remember how for forty years now the LORD, your God, has directed all your journeying in the desert, so as to test you by affliction and find out whether or not it was your intention to keep his commandments. He therefore let you be afflicted with hunger, and then fed you with manna, a food unknown to you and your fathers, in order to show you that not by bread alone does man live, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the LORD."

NAB MAT 4:4 The Temptation.

Then Jesus was led into the desert by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil. He fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterward was hungry. The tempter approached and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to turn into bread."

Jesus replied, "Scripture has it:
'Not on bread alone is man to live but on every utterance that comes from the mouth of God.'"

NAB JOH 15:10

"You will live in my love if you keep my commandments, even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and live in his love."

NAB WIS 16:26

That your sons whom you loved might learn, O LORD, that it is not the various kinds of fruits that nourish man, but it is your word that preserves those who believe you!

NAB EZE 20:11

Then I gave them my statutes and made known to them my ordinances, which everyone must keep, to have life through them. I also gave them my sabbaths to be a sign between me and them, to show that it was I, the LORD, who made them holy. But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the desert. They did not observe my statutes, and they despised my ordinances that bring life to those who keep them. (EZE 20:21)

NAB BAR 4:1

She is the book of the precepts of God, the law that endures forever; All who cling to her will live, but those will die who forsake her. Turn, O Jacob, and receive her: walk by her light toward splendor. (PSA 103:17-18)

NAB 1JO 2:17

And the world with its seductions is passing away but the man who does God's will endures forever.

Satan assures us that we will not die for disobeying the command of God.

NAB GEN 3:1

Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the animals that the LORD God had made. The serpent asked the woman, "Did God really tell you not to eat from any of the trees in the garden?" The woman answered the serpent: "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden; it is only about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden that God said, 'You shall not eat it or even touch it, lest you die.'" But the serpent said to the woman: "You certainly will not die!..."

SATAN LIES!!!

Christ did not come to change the law. Christ came to fulfill it. Where we have sinned and refused to love through the law, Christ obeys, fulfills and accomplishes love in our place. Jesus never contradicts or changes God's words given through the prophets. The teaching of the prophets and the teaching of Jesus are in harmony.

NAB2 MAT 5:17

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Through His commandments, precepts and laws God has told us what love for Him is and what love for fellow man is. The commandments were not put on earth so men would know how not to sin. The ten commandments were not put on earth to trip up man and send him to hell. Nor were the commandments created that man could earn his way to heaven. Free will was established on earth to allow men to love God and the commandments were put on earth so men would know how to love. The foundation of God's commandments is love, love for God in the first three and love for God by loving other people in the following seven. To fulfil the requirements of any of the commandments is to love. To break any of the commandments is to not love or to hate. Believing in and being faithful to Christ is believing and being faithful to his message and his message is the commandments of love.

NAB SIR 35:1

To keep the law is a great oblation, and he who observes the commandments sacrifices a peace offering. In works of charity one offers fine flour, and when he gives alms he presents his sacrifice of praise. To refrain from evil pleases the LORD, and to avoid injustice is an atonement. Appear not before the LORD empty handed, for all that you offer is in fulfillment of the precepts. The just man's offering enriches the altar and rises as a sweet odor before the Most High. The just man's sacrifice is most pleasing, nor will it ever be forgotten. In generous spirit pay homage to the LORD, be not sparing of freewill gifts. With each contribution show a cheerful countenance, and pay your tithes in a spirit of joy. Give to the Most High as he has given to you generously, according to your means. For the LORD is one who always repays, and he will give back to you sevenfold.

NAB SIR 17:17

A man's goodness God cherishes like a signet ring, a man's virtue, like the apple of his eye.

NAB 1PE 1:6

There is cause for rejoicing here. You may for a time have to suffer the distress of many trials; but this is so that your faith, which is more precious than the passing splendor of fire-tried gold, may by its genuineness lead to praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ appears.
At man's death, only those with love for God in accordance to His commands will be gathered into heaven. Upon death, man will have fulfilled all his free will choices of life. Man's choices between good and evil, love and hate, life and death, the blessing and the curses will be fulfilled. If during free will you ended life with a desire in your heart to love God with all your strength, heart, soul and mind, God will gather you back. If you have ended your life struggling with all your strength to heed His voice, He will gather you into His Kingdom. He will collect those who love Him from all the nations and cleanse them in Jesus blood. He will change their lot. The Lord will circumcise all evil out of His loved ones hearts. Freedom to choose evil will no longer exist. The ability not to love and to hate will no longer be a part of existence. Those who love Him will be transformed into pure love for God, through Christ's blood, to live forever. God will finally have His desire. God will finally have the true Israelite family to share the Promised Land of eternal life. This new race will be His people and He will be their God.

NAB DEU 30:1 Mercy for the Repentant.

When all these things which I have set before you, the blessing and the curses, are fulfilled in you, and from among whatever nations the LORD, your God, may have dispersed you, you ponder them in your heart: then, provided that you and your children return to the LORD, your God, and heed his voice with all your heart and all your soul, just as I now command you, the LORD, your God, will change your lot; and taking pity on you, he will again gather you from all the nations wherein he has scattered you. Though you may have been driven to the farthest corner of the world, even from there will the LORD, your God, gather you; even from there will he bring you back. The LORD, your God, will then bring you into the land which your fathers once occupied, that you too may occupy it, and he will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers. The LORD, your God, will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, that you may love the LORD, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, and so may live. But all those curses the LORD, your God, will assign to your enemies and the foes who persecuted you. You, however, must again heed the LORD's voice and carry out all his commandments which I now enjoin on you. Then the LORD, your God, will increase in more than goodly measure the returns from all your labors, the fruit of your womb, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your soil; for the LORD, your God, will again take delight in your prosperity, even as he took delight in your father's, if only you heed the voice of the LORD, your God, and keep his commandments and statutes that are written in this book of the law, when you return to the LORD, your God, with all your heart and soul.

NAB 1PE 1:17

In prayer you call upon a Father who judges each one justly on the basis of his actions. Since this is so, conduct yourselves reverently during your sojourn in a strange land.

NAB 1PE 2:11

Beloved, you are strangers and in exile; hence I urge you not to indulge your carnal desires. By their nature they wage war on the soul.
Adam was created to love God. Abraham and his descendants were circumcised to love God. We Christians are born of the water to love God. The way that Adam was to love God was faithfulness and obedience to God's law. The way Abraham and his descendants were to love God was through obedience and faithfulness to God's laws of love. The way that Jesus loved the Father was through obedience and faithfulness to the Father's commands on how to love. The way that we Christians are to love God is through obedience and faithfulness to Jesus and the Father's commands on how to love. He who is baptized and is faithful to Christ's precepts and laws, with all their heart, will never die. Christ's laws and precepts and the Father's laws and precepts are one in the same.

Here are Jesus Christ's and the Father's commands to the Christians of the world today. Here are the commands men are to choose to follow. To choose to follow these wills of Christ is to love the Father, Jesus and fellow man. To choose to follow these commands is love and with man's love comes Jesus' salvation. Hear Oh, Christian Israel! Here is how you are to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind. Also this is how you shall love your neighbor as yourself. The commandments of God.

NAB LEV 19:1 Various Rules of Conduct.

The LORD said to Moses, "Speak to the whole Israelite community and tell them:
Be holy, for I, The LORD, your God, am holy. Revere your mother and father, and keep my sabbaths. I, the LORD, am your God.
"Do not turn aside to idols, nor make molten gods for yourselves. I, the LORD, am your God.
"When you sacrifice your peace offering to the LORD, if you wish it to be acceptable, it must be eaten on the very day of your sacrifice or on the following day. Whatever is left over until the third day shall be burned up in the fire. If any of it is eaten on the third day, the sacrifice will be unacceptable as refuse; whoever eats of it then shall pay the penalty for having profaned what is sacred to the LORD. Such a one shall be cut off from his people.
"When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not be so thorough that you reap the field to its very edge, nor shall you glean the stray ears of grain. Likewise, you shall not pick your vineyard bare, not gather up the grapes that have fallen. These things you shall leave for the poor and the alien. I, the LORD, am your God.
"You shall not steal. You shall not lie or speak falsely to one another. You shall not swear falsely by my name thus profaning the name of your God. I am the LORD.
"You shall not defraud or rob your neighbor. You shall not withhold overnight the wages of your day laborer. You shall not curse the deaf, or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but you shall fear your God. I am the LORD.
"You shall not act dishonestly in rendering judgment. Show neither partiality to the weak nor deference to the mighty, but judge your fellow men justly. You shall not go about spreading slander among your kinsmen; nor shall you stand by idly when your neighbor's life is at stake. I am the LORD.
"You shall not bear hatred for your brother in your heart. Though you may have to reprove your fellow man, do not incur sin because of him. Take no revenge and cherish no grudge against your fellow countrymen. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD."

NAB DEU 5:6

'I, the LORD, am your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. You shall not have other gods besides me. You shall not carve idols for yourselves in the shape of anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the waters beneath the earth; you shall not bow down before them or worship them. For I, the LORD, your God, am a jealous God, inflicting punishments for their fathers' wickedness on the children of those who hate me, down to the third and fourth generation but bestowing mercy, down to the thousandth generation, on the children of those who love me and keep my commandments. 'You shall not take the name of the LORD, your God, in vain. For the LORD will not leave unpunished him who takes his name in vain. 'Take care to keep holy the sabbath day as the LORD, your God, commanded you. Six days you may labor and do all your work; but the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD, your God. No work may be done then, whether by you, or your son or daughter, or your male or female slave, or your ox or ass or any of your beasts, or the alien who lives with you. Your male and female slave should rest as you do. For remember that you too were once slaves in Egypt, and the LORD, your God, brought you from there with his strong hand and outstretched arm. That is why the LORD, your God, has commanded you to observe the sabbath day. 'Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD, your God, has commanded you, that you may have a long life and prosperity in the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you. 'You shall not kill. 'You shall not commit adultery. 'You shall not steal. 'You shall not bear dishonest witness against your neighbor. 'You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. 'You shall not desire your neighbor's house or field, nor his male or female slave, nor his ox or ass, nor anything that belongs to him.' "These words, and nothing more, the LORD spoke with a loud voice to your entire assembly on the mountain from the midst of the fire and the dense cloud. He wrote them upon two tablets of stone and gave them to me(DEU 5:23)....//....(DEU 6:1)"These then are the commandments, the statutes and decrees which the LORD, your God, has ordered that you be taught to observe in the land into which you are crossing for conquest, so that you and your son and your grandson may fear the LORD, your God, and keep, throughout the days of your lives, all his statutes and commandments which I enjoin on you, and thus have long life. Hear then, Israel, and be careful to observe them, that you may grow and prosper the more, in keeping with the promise of the LORD, the God of your fathers, to give you a land flowing with milk and honey. "Hear, O Israel!

NAB MAT 5:17

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law and the Prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them. Of this much I assure you: until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter of the law, not the smallest part of a letter, shall be done away with until it all comes true. That is why whoever breaks the least significant of these commands and teaches others to do so shall be called least in the kingdom of God. Whoever fulfils and teaches these commands shall be great in the kingdom of God. I tell you, unless your holiness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees you shall not enter the kingdom of God."
Against Anger.
"You have heard the commandment imposed on your forefathers, 'You shall not commit murder; every murderer shall be liable to judgment.' What I say to you is: everyone who grows angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; any man who uses abusive language toward his brother shall be answerable to the Sanhedrin, and if he holds him in contempt he risks the fires of Gehenna. If you bring your gift to the altar and there recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift at the altar, go first to be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Lose no time; settle with your opponent while on your way to court with him. Otherwise your opponent may hand you over to the judge, who will hand you over to the guard, who will throw you into prison. I warn you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny. "You have heard the commandment, 'You shall not commit adultery.' What I say to you is: anyone who looks lustfully at a woman has already committed adultery with her in his thoughts."

NAB MAT 5:33 On Oaths.

"You have heard the commandment imposed on your forefathers, 'Do not take a false oath; rather, make good to the Lord all your pledges.' What I tell you is: do not swear at all. Do not swear by heaven (it is God's throne) nor by earth (it is his footstool), nor by Jerusalem (it is the city of the great King); do not swear by your head (you cannot make a single hair white or black) Say, 'Yes' when you mean 'Yes' and 'No' when you mean 'No.' Anything beyond that is from the evil one."

NAB MAT 19:18

He said to them, "Because of the hardness of your hearts Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. I say to you, whoever divorces his wife (unless the marriage is unlawful) and marries another commits adultery."

Christians! Plant these laws in your hearts and desire to fulfill them with all the strength of your body. Christ says that you must love God with all your heart, mind, strength and soul in order to inherit salvation through Jesus. To fulfill the law with all your strength is how one loves God with all his heart.

If you strive to obey God with all your strength but fail, Christ's blood is there to die for your sin. It is through Jesus' blood that sins are destroyed and the Father is able to retrieve those who have loved Him with all their Heart.

God's commandments teach us how love for God is accomplished.

When I was a child working with tractor and plow in the fields for my father, I had much time to think of God. One particular day I was contemplating our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross in his agony and pain. I spoke out to God, "If only I could have lived in the time of Jesus to stand and fight against his persecutors." Perhaps this statement was a bit much for a "soldier" of not more than twelve. Later in life I learned that, in fact, my offer to God was incredibly accurate. God allows us to choose to fight to protect Jesus or turn and persecute him ourselves. My deeds today span the gap of time and are seen by the Man upon the cross at the time of his crucifixion. Any support and aid given today is felt by Jesus two thousand years ago and any persecution given today is felt by Jesus two thousand years ago.

It is through the blood of Jesus Christ that we sinners vividly see the pain our sin and hatred causes God. Though many feel that God can simply forget our hatred for Him this is no more than God can simply forget our love for Him. It is only with the greatest of difficulty that the Father allowed His son to die a horrible death in order to erase man's hatred for Him. Are you willing to stand opposed to man's hatred in sin as much as Jesus and the Father? It is those who hate hatred and love love with all their hearts whom God will harvest into His Kingdom.

God will put in heaven those who with all their strength, heart, mind and soul love Jesus. The Father will look for men who, with all their strength, avoided using God's name in idle conversation. They recognize the use of God's name in vain as the nails driven into Jesus' hands. God will be looking for those who humbly sacrificed their own desires, while making a marriage work. They realize the sin of divorcing one's God-bonded marriage partner for a new man-bonded partner, as the crown of thorns for Christ to wear. God will be looking for those who fought the desire of fornication knowing that it is the spear in Jesus' side. God will be looking for those who protect the unborn. They realize abortion to be one and the same as killing innocent Jesus. God will seek those who, out of love for God, do not steal. They realize that stealing today affects Christ in 0033 AD. Today's sin of stealing is carried by Christ as the whip beaten across his back. It is out of love for God that men not covet. Our coveting today is inflicted on Jesus by the Pharisees who envied and coveted Jesus glory. Christ carried the affliction of our sins of today on his cross of yesterday. Today it is out of love for God that we strive with all our strength not to persecute Jesus on the cross of our sins.

NAB MAT 8:17

(Isaiah is speaking.)
"It was our infirmities he bore, our sufferings he endured."

NAB ISA 53:4

(Isaiah to the Israelites.)
Who would believe what we have heard? To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? He grew up like a sapling before him, like a shoot from the parched earth; There was in him no stately bearing to make us look at him, nor appearance that would attract us to him. He was spurned and avoided by men, a man of suffering, accustomed to infirmity, One of those from whom men hide their faces, spurned, and we held him in no esteem.

Yet it was our infirmities that he bore, our sufferings that he endured, While we thought of him as stricken, as one smitten by God and afflicted. But he was pierced for our offenses, crushed for our sins, Upon him was the chastisement that makes us whole, by his stripes we were healed. We had all gone astray like sheep, each following his own way; But the LORD laid upon him the guilt of us all.

NAB MAR: The Freer Logion

"Yet it was for the sake of sinners that I was handed over to death, that they might return to the truth and sin no more, and inherit the spiritual and immortal glory of justification in heaven."
Israelite Isaiah said, "It is for we Israelites' (and Christians') sins that Jesus was pierced and crushed. It is Jesus who heals we Israelites and makes us whole." To say Moses needed to obey the law but a Christian has grace is wrong. Abraham and Moses had the grace of Christ's blood yet they also needed love through obedience to God's wills. To say, "Yes, a Savior was resurrected in the year 0033 AD" and have no love in obedience within your heart will only bring you to damnation. David believed that a Savior, the right hand of God, was begotten of God also, yet he still needed repentance and love.

Man's purpose in life is to love God. God sacrificed his Son Jesus to retrieve not humankind in general, but humans bearing the fruit of love for God. Since Abraham, sin and disobedience to the law does not abandon a man to damnation. It is man's lack of choices to love that will abandon his soul to eternal damnation. Freely choosing the commandments of God is how Adam, Abraham, Noah, Moses, David, Jesus, Peter and all men love God. If a man is fruitful with love for God, God will bring the sinning man through the mercy of Christ's blood into eternal life. It is through the law that one loves God and it is through Jesus Christ's suffering that those who love God receive eternal life. Through God's commandments of love, love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind.
